2021.10.23 19:23 Juhuuhy First time drinking, beer was unbelievably bitter
So as the title suggests, just had my first beer a couple of days ago, it was a modelo especial, and good grief was it bitter, i couldn't have more then a small sip without gagging. Is the bitterness normal or did I just get the short end of the stick with my tastebuds? No one in my family drinks so can't really ask them anything. I'm sure beer is bitter but that wasn't even enjoyable.

2021.10.23 19:23 sardabear Atrial Flutter vs. Atrial Fibrillation? (27F)
Tl;dr: I have a follow up with my cardiologist in November, but I want an opinion on something. Can someone look at the attached watch EKG and weigh in on whether it looks like atrial fibrillation or atrial flutter?
• Any existing relevant medical issues (if any): I was diagnosed with SVT when I was 21. My cardiologist identified two areas that were sending off signals. He was only able to ablate one because the other was in an area that he felt too dangerous to try for.
About a year ago, I started having heart episodes again (after years with no symptoms). This time they felt different, leaving me feeling exhausted. In February I had an my worst episode yet. Every time I stood up my heart rate jumped to the 180s. That lasted 24 hours and by the end I was feeling completely breathless and ill. I contacted my old cardiologist, who was able to prescribe me beta blockers which stopped the episode.
I wore a heart monitor for a month and, of course, had no episodes the entire time. I tried doing beta blockers full time, but they left me feeling even worse than my heart episodes.
My episodes had been ramping up again all summer. I'd been taking beta blockers "as needed" when episodes would start, but I was getting to the point where I'd take two and it would still last 6+ hours, leaving me basically incapacitated.
I recently got done wearing another month long heart monitor. During that time, I had a few little 'blips' where my heart felt off, but I didn't have what I consider a typical episode where I feel ill and breathless.
My cardiologist said there were rhythms in the data consistent with atrial flutter. I have taken a lot of watch EKGs over these months that all said either "atrial fibrillation" or "inconclusive" (if heart rate was too high).
I googled atrial flutter vs atrial fibrillation EKGs and I don't think what I've recorded looks consistent with atrial flutter. I saw that some people can have both, so I'm concerned I have atrial fibrillation too and my heart monitor never caught an episode of it. I am trying to get the best insight I can now so I can have a productive conversation when I see my cardiologist.
I've attached one of my "atrial fibrillation" watch EKG reports. Could someone look at it and tell me what they think?

• Current medications (if any): Errin, Wellbutrin
• Include a photo if relevant (skin condition for example): watch EKG attached

2021.10.23 19:23 mx_sunshine rant about feeling alone in my battle
i'm someone who's battled chronic illnesses since i was 7. my life has been behind ever since, im too tired and my flare ups are so uncontrolled that i haven't even had a chance to consider doing what my friends are doing. it's become a bigger part of my life now that i'm getting older. i feel so seperated from my friends. they have jobs and can drive cars and take ap classes and all this stuff that i can't do. i can't really fix it, no one knows entirely what's wrong and i get new syndromes every year. i tried to explain this feeling of seperation to my friend, how upset i am that im limited in life based on my illnesses and there's things he can do that i can't. he just replied with things that i was born with (my personality, my learning ability) that he wished he had. i don't have anyone who understands the way i'm feeling, so i was hoping there was someone here who'd understand :)

2021.10.23 19:23 biesnacks Doxycycline, is it even worth it for me?
been struggling with mold related chronic illness for the better part of the last 5 years, didnt even know it was mold until about 2.5 years ago. Luckily i have stuck to my protocol and have improved dramatically where i can at least live my life with some joy, i have far less inflammation, food allergies are mostly gone, put back on healthy weight, etc, but I cant seem to get over the final hump to feeling "normal" again and i keep going back to an incident when i was 20 years old where i ran through some tall grass on a hike in my hometime in Connecticut and probably had 15-20 ticks on my legs. Obviously i made sure to get them all off and checked after shower etc, never really thought about it much until my health started to turn a few years back.
I recently told that story to my mold doctor and he said theres a high likelihood i prob have some lyme, which probably made me susceptible to the mold in the first place.
Given I have seen great improvements and i do feel much stronger than i did a few years ago, is it even worth me doing a 30 day on doxy at this point? I don't have a confirmed case, i have had multiple negative western blot and ELSA tests but from what i read those are crap anyway. Is there any benefit in me doing a round of doxy? can it help? or should i just move straight to botanicals like japanese knotweed and cats claw
any advice would be great.
